General Assembly

Georgia's General Assembly was established in 1777 by the Constitution of Georgia. The Legislature serves every citizen of Georgia by executing power as defined in the state constitution, and by providing insights and updates associated with the legislative process.

The assembly employs more than 400 people in the following divisions and offices: Lieutenant Governor, House of Representatives, State Senate, Legislative Counsel, Legislative Fiscal Office, Legislative Budget Office, and Legislative Information Technology. These divisions adhere to the leadership of the Speaker of the House, the Lieutenant Governor and members of the Legislative Services Committee.
